Urban Ladder is a retailing company for home furnishing and home decor located in Bangalore City, since the year 2012 with stores in cities like Delhi NCR and Mumbai, started by Ashish Goel and Rajiv Srivatsa providing both online and offline facilities for customers towards a host of furnishings and finishing products.
The idea of Urban Ladder Home Decor Solutions was promoted by its co-founders Ashish Goel and Rajiv Srivatsa in July 2012; including Ashish who had worked with McKinsey & Company and had been the Chief Executive officer of Amar Chitra Kath before this foray; instead, Rajiv had been working with Cognizant and Yahoo before they ventured into Urban Ladder.

Urban Ladder was conceived as an online brand offering furniture but evolved through distribution and then lastly to getting into brick-and-mortar retail in 2017. They launched their flagship store at Bangalore on 8th July 2017.
In November of 2020, Reliance Retail acquired a 96 percent stake, in Urban Ladder for ₹182 crore.

Funding and acquisition
In August 2012, Urban Ladder secured its inaugural round of funding – seed financing worth $ 1 million – from Kalaari Capital. Soon thereafter, the company raised a further 5 million US dollars through Series A financing led by SAIF Partners with support from Kalaari Capital. It was during this time that Urban Ladder successfully bagged a Series B funding round amounting to $21million with the likes of Steadview Capital, SAIF Partners, and Kalaari Capital leading the round. Four months after this Series B funding, the company welcomed Ratan Tata of Tata Sons as a personal investor.
On April 9, 2015 Urban Ladder made the announcement that it raised $50 million in financing led by Sequoia Capital and TR Capital with the participation of Steadview Capital, existing investor SAIF Partners, and Kalaari Capital.
In February 2018, Urban Ladder successfully raised $12 million in an internal funding round along with their compound investors including Kalaari Capital, SAIF Partners, Sequoia Capital, and Steadview Capital. In January of the same year 2017, they managed to pull in 15 million dollars. These funds were utilized for increasing Urban Ladder’s online and offline Presence which focused on making profits by FY 18-19. In a period of 12 months, Urban Ladder managed to raise a total of $27 million and this was utilized over Omnicom approaches to strengthen the retail brand.
In 2020 Reliance Industries Limited RIL owned a Retail Venture.
The Urban Ladder Design Network
In addition to collections and consultations from Urban Ladder’s in-house designers, Urban Ladder works with external designers as well. Designs of the company’s products are sent to third-party designers of the Urban Ladder Design Network in the form of 3D models. These partnered designers get priority inventory blocking on Urban Ladder’s offerings and commission when the clientele they service go for Urban Ladder’s designs in their homes. The Urban Ladder Design Network currently comprises over 600 design firms and is still adding new partners every month.
